Zorlu Energy plans hybrid power plant adding solar power to its Alasehir geothermal plant

Zorlu Energy plans establishment of hybrid power plant, adding solar photovoltaic plant to its Alasehir geothermal power plant.

As reported by Turkish news agency Anadolu Agency, Zorlu Energy will establish hybrid energy power plant by establishing an integrated solar power plant (GES) to its Alasehir geothermal power generation plant (GPP) in the district of Manisa.

This project of Zorlu Energy will be one of the leading examples of hybrid power plants in Turkey. By solar-geothermal hybrid structure effectiveness and efficiency of resources resources will be increased.

In Zorlu Enerji’s Hybrid Power Plant project, a total of 31,200 ‘thin film’ solar panels, each with a power of 115 watts, will be used.

The total capacity of Alasehir GPP, which has an installed power of 45 MWe, will increase 3.58 MWe with the realization of the solar power project.

With the project, it is predicted that approximately 6 million kilowatt-hours of energy will be produced annually from solar energy and a contribution of approximately 4.5 million lira to the country’s economy will be made. Thus, it is aimed to meet the electricity needs of 1700 households and prevent approximately 300 tons of carbon dioxide gas emission.
