The Geological Agency of Indonesia has put forward recommendations for three new geothermal working areas, as well as 8 prospecting surveys for geothermal.

During 2021, the Geological Agency of the Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has issued recommendations for 28 working areas throughout 2021, as reported by KataData. These recommendations will later be offered to investors through an auction mechanism. The recommendations consist of recommendations for Oil and Gas Working Areas (migas) , Mineral and Coal Mining Business Permits (WIUP) and Geothermal Working Areas .

In a press event, Head of the Geological Agency, Eko Budi Lelono, detailed three recommendations for geothermal, “first in Maranda-Kawende, Central Sulawesi, Massepe South Sulawesi, and in Tiris Mount Lamongan,”

In addition to issuing recommendations for working areas, the Geological Agency also conducts geological surveys, which consist of 14 recommendations for prospecting mineral resources surveys, 7 recommendations for prospecting surveys for coal, peat and coal methane resources, and 8 prospecting surveys for geothermal resources.
