For this year's Praxisforum Geothermie in Munich, Germany - geothermal heat is the guiding theme. The key geothermal event for Central Europe, will take place October 16-18, 2018.

For this year’s Praxisforum Geothermie in Munich, Germany – geothermal heat is the guiding theme. The event is the key geothermal conference in the most active geothermal region in Central Europe.

The exit from nuclear and fossil-fuel energy demands a stable and secure heat supply in the future. Due to high volatility efficient “Power to Heat” technologies transformed by wind energy are not likely to supply urban districts independent from time and weather.

Since more than a decade geothermal heating and power plants deliver eco-friendly and carbon dioxide free heat to communities and cities hosted in the German Bavarian Molasse Basin. With a rising demand existing local district heating projects already needed to expand its capacities or will do soon in order to increase the supply guarantee for the future.

From October 16 to 18, 2018 the 6th Praxisforum Geothermie.Bayern in Munich/Germany, presented in the HBW convention center, focuses on specific aspects of geothermal heat supply. The prelude begins on October 16, 2018 with the simultaneous translated European Heat Summit that introduces technical and economic practice from existing projects and tries to establish perspectives for future models of the geothermal market in Mid-Europe. The parallel workshop “Geothermal water loop” embraces insights and challenges of scalings and geothermal supply pumps in the Bavarian Molasse Basin and identifies possible improvements.

After the opening keynotes, the Congress Day on October 17, 2018 is framed by six thematic forums. Participants will be informed on new aspects of the above and underground compartments of geothermal plants as well as on legal and economic conditions

The preliminary programme in detail:

Morning:

  • Forum I: Exploration to the first well (g/e)
The forum presents the latest project developments, exploration strategies, and lessons learnt.
  • Forum II: Political Framework (g)
The Renewable Energy Act will be revised soon. More stimuli will be needed for the geothermal heat market. Also the market incentive programme will be discussed.
  • Forum III: Geothermie-Allianz Bayern Science Forum – Geothermal Energy Supply (g)
Focus will be set on the latest research developments and engineering aspects of geothermal power and heating plants.

Afternoon:

  • Forum IV: Understanding the Upper Jurassic Reservoir (g/e)
The Upper Jurassic deep groundwater reservoir in the Bavarian Molasse Basin still holds a lot of secrets within the individual exploitation sites. Current findings will be subject of Forum IV.
  • Forum V: Borehole and Quality Management (g)
Deep drilling projects need high standards to guarantee long-time stability that are common within the E&P industry and that can be adapted to individual geothermal projects.
  • Forum VI: Round Table – Invest Geothermal (e)
Discussion platform for investments in deep geothermal projects of the Bavarian Molasse Basin

In the evening of the congress day the Praxisforum Lounge offers a nice chill-out atmosphere for further networking.

The Praxisforum will be closed on October 18, 2018 by different Field Trips to geothermal heating and power plants located in the greater Munich area and the Molasse Basin.

With more than 200 participant the Praxisforum Geothermie.Bayern has established as one of the most important congresses with practical relevance in Mid-Europe.

Early Bird Registration until Friday, March 23, 2018 receives a 20 percent reduction on the regular fee.
