MOL Group joins the upcoming 2024 Budapest Geothermal Energy Summit, elevating the event that will feature industry experts and high-level speakers.

MOL Group (MOL), a leading regional energy company, has joined the upcoming Budapest Geothermal Energy Summit, as the Main Sponsor, further elevating the event’s professional quality and importance.

Taking place on 20 September 2024 at the Hotel Kempinski in Budapest, Hungary, the Budapest Geothermal Energy Summit will see top industry experts discuss the most important developments of the geothermal energy market, the latest technological, regulatory, and financial trends, as well as the new opportunities and challenges in geothermal energy. The event is being organized a second time by the White Paper Consulting after a successful inaugural outing.

In recent months, MOL has won two geothermal exploration permits in Hungary, while INA (member of MOL Group) has also secured two in Croatia. Geothermal energy production is a key focus area for MOL’s recently launched “Low Carbon and New Energies” branch, which was established within the Exploration and Production division to develop sustainable energy solutions. At the Budapest Geothermal Energy Summit, David Kapes, Head of MOL Group E&P Low Carbon and New Energies, will present the progress of the company’s first geothermal projects and how they will contribute to the greening of MOL’s activities.

The Budapest Geothermal Energy Summit is the region’s leading conference on geothermal energy, and this year it will be held as an official partner event of the Hungarian EU Presidency. The internationally recognized conference has already attracted participants from over 21 countries.

The Summit will be opened by Csaba Lantos, Hungary’s Minister of Energy, who will present Hungary’s geothermal energy strategy, the current state of the market, and its prospects.

High-level international speakers will present the main trends in the global and European geothermal energy markets, including Marit Brommer, Executive Director of the International Geothermal Association (IGA), Mechthild Wörsdörfer, Deputy Director-General of DG Energy at the European Commission, and Miklos Antics, President of the European Geothermal Energy Council (EGEC).

The conference will also cover topics such as geothermal power and heat generation, policy bottlenecks and regulatory challenges, financing models for geothermal projects, project development experiences, innovative technologies, and success stories from various regions around the world.

The Budapest Geothermal Energy Summit will be attended by leaders from the most important companies and organizations in the industry, including Arctic Green Energy, Ormat, MVM, Enel Green Power, Bayer Construct, Sinopec Green Energy, Euroheat and Power, Do?an Geothermal Group, and many others.
