Polaris Infrastracture is working on the engineering for a planned 7-10 MW expansion of its San Jacinto geothermal power plant in Nicaragua. A tender for the planned binary cycle plant is expected soon.

During its recent investor presentation on the Q4 results for 2020, Polaris Infrastructure CEO Marc Murnaghan provided updates on its geothermal operations in Nicaragua.

In the call, it was reported that the company is currently working on the design engineering for a 7-10 MW expansion of its 72 MW San Jacinto geothermal power plant in the country. The company plans to install a binary-cycle unit. The expansion is expected to take between 12-16 months in construction.

The company expects to launch a tender with the conclusion of the engineering work. The award of the supplier contract for the plant equipment is then expected for July 2021.
