The regional council in the province of Aceh in Indonesia, is urging the government to implement the geothermal project in the region without delay to help it deal with a luring energy crisis.

The ongoing electricity crisis, with not sufficient electricity available is a big concern in the semi-autonomous province of Aceh on the northwest tip of Sumatra Island in Indonesia.

The regional executive board council now urges the government to implement a geothermal project to serve as key element in helping it to deal with the crisis.

“The project, which received a grant Bank German development (KfW) worth of EUR 7.72 million or Rp 100 billion that should have been able to be implemented to address the electricity crisis in Aceh, “wrote Chairman of the Council Pospera Aceh, Tarmizi, in a press release

According to the Government of Aceh should be viewed as an opportunity for a geothermal project development in Aceh. Our hope active participation of all stakeholders to address this issue is very important, “he said.

Considering electricity has become the basic needs of the people of Aceh, further Tarmizi, plus a supply of electric current in Aceh is very dependent of North Sumatra, it should be the Government of Aceh to find a way out.

“We expect the Government of Aceh should immediately implement a geothermal project. If not, it will be inversely proportional and not in line with the spirit we foster an investment climate in Aceh, “he said, questioning why the project is so very slow.
