Scale control tech company enters the geothermal market

The rebranding to ClearWELL Energy marks the entry of the company into the geothermal market as demand grows for their scale control technology.
Aberdeen-based ClearWELL, a company that develops scale control technologies, has rebranded from ClearWELL Oilfield Solutions to ClearWELL Energy. The rebranding represents the company’s entry into the geothermal market as a response to the growing cross-sector demand for their unique, chemical-free, electromagnetic scale control technology.
ClearWELL is patented technology that uses surface-mounted facilities that transmit radio frequency signals along production tubing. In February, ClearWELL undertook the first geothermal application of their scale control technology at a geothermal power station in Germany. Calcium carbonate scales had formed in the well casing, electric submersible pump, and surface heat exchangers of this facility, resulting in pump failures and reduced efficiency.
With this development, ClearWELL has invested in larger floorspace in their Aberdeen facilities, as well as in ongoing R & D. New manufacturing and testing facilities will be augmented with an increased employee headcount of more than 300%.
