With a focus on long-term productivity, Tenaris has supported the Larderello geothermal site in Italy for more than 30 years with tubulars and services.

Steel pipe manufacturer and supplier Tenaris has published a fantastic video of how the company has supported the Larderello geothermal site in Tuscany, Italy for more than 30 years. The video can be found on the LinkedIn page of Tenaris.

Operated by Enel Green Power, Larderello is the largest geothermal site in Italy with more than 500 geothermal wells. It also holds a special place in the history of geothermal power generation as it is the site of the first electricity generation from geothermal, more than 120 years ago.

Through the partnership with Enel Green Power, Tenaris has supplied tubulars and associated services (storage, delivery, and other technical services) to the Larderello site for more than 30 years. The pipes in Larderello operate under extreme conditions, requiring specialized solutions including:

  • Premium connections to withstand thermal stresses and cycles
  • High-collapse grades and high-chromium steel for superior corrosion resistance
  • Comprehensive services, from well design support and just-in-time delivery

“We chose Tenaris as a partner not just high product quality, but for a top level service, in particular the ongoing technical collaboration that drives mutual growth and innovation in our geothermal operations,” said Roberto Martini, Senior Drilling Engineer at Enel Green Power.
