Want to combine your love for geothermal energy with bicycling, tourism, food and wine, check out this new project offering just that by former cycling Olympic champion in Tuscany.
A luxury ambassador, former cycling world and Olympic champion Paolo Bettini, initiated a new project that involves the local region of Tuscany, cycling and food, so an article in La Nazione in Italy.
BikeandTaste is a new portal where the enhancement of excellence and cycle tourism meet, born with the aim of promoting destinations with high cycling value, with particular attention to food and wine and slow bike.
BikeandTaste involves hotels, farmhouses and bed and breakfasts in the name of rediscovering ancient flavours, hospitality and authentic contact with nature, riding a bike. Bettini will guide cyclists in person to discover a strip of Tuscany enclosed in the territory of Pomarance and the upper Val di Cecina. Between gravel paths and roads, forests and villages, BikeandTaste promises exclusivity and fun, in the name of typical products tasted in the setting of geothermal energy.
“I spent an entire career training on the roads of these hills and I am happy that finally there is a concrete project on the enhancement of an extraordinary territory such as that of geothermal energy – explains Paolo Bettini. The numbers confirm that cycling is increasingly synonymous with freedom, today many choose two wheels to travel, enjoy the outdoors and rediscover a slower way of life. I therefore want to thank the administration of the Municipality of Pomarance and the whole geothermal area because they understood the importance of supporting cycle tourism in this precise historical moment, where the bicycle proved to be an extraordinary means of being able to leave after the pandemic. ” The Municipality of Pomarance is at the forefront of the initiative .

Cycle tourism is a bet we strongly believe in and the synergy between the Municipality of Pomarance, Velo Etruria Pomarance and Cosvig made it possible. Ours is a strategic territory from all points of view: it is a few kilometers from the sea of the Etruscan Coast and has the sweet and at the same time wild charm of the Tuscan hinterland. A territory with a “warm heart”, rich in underground resources and full of energy. The same one that releases the earth through the geothermal manifestations of Larderello and that is perceived in the warmth of the typical welcome of those who live there. A landscape that lends itself very well to being discovered slowly by bicycle, whether muscular or not, on the road or off. The roads of the Val Di Cecina are natural cycle paths, where the cyclist can enjoy nature without traffic and without stress, pedaling with his head held high 365 days a year “. Finally, it should be remembered that alongside the experiences in Tuscany, BikeandTaste also offers the hills of Valdobbiadene in Veneto, a UNESCO heritage site, as a destination, through a network of facilities and services for the most demanding cyclists.
