Turboden signs on fourth geothermal power plant order for Traunreut geothermal project in Bavaria, Germany. The company has already delivered three ORC plants in the region, which are expected to start operating this year.

With the work on the second well successfully finalized in April 2013, the project saw the start of construction of the heating plant in June.

Now the developer announces it has signed a contract with ORC power plant provider Turboden. It is expected that the plant will be producing power as early as in mid-2015.

This tight schedule is so far still not common. The order was given only 3 months after the finalization of the drilling campaign.

The developer, Geothermischen Kraftwerksgesellschaft Traunreut mbH (GKT), had planned to start discussiosn with potential power plant providers from an early stage. Due to the fact that negotiations took place at the same time with the drilling campaign, now allowed partners to quickly agree on a power plant contract.

The reason for choosing Turboden, was the experience that company has with the geothermal conditions in the Bavarian Molasse Basin.

This year there three Turboden combined heat and power plants  will start operation.

The plant will have an installed capacity power generation capacity of 4.1 MW and be an Organic Rankin Cycle (ORC) plant.
