The European Commission NER300 program opens now for funding applications from - among others - EGS projects under the 2nd call of the program.

Earlier this week, the European Geothermal Energy Council (EGEC) announced that the second round of the EU NER300 program was started.

Applications for funding under that program are now possible until July 3, 2013. For geothermal projects applications for EGS demonstration projects can be sent in.

Details about the program via NER 300 second call for Proposals

With the publication of this second call, the Eu commission wants to support demonstration projects for carbon sequestration and storage, as well as for innovative technologies of the renewable energy sector.

For the geothermal sector, EGS projects in particular geological settings can send in applications. Details can be found via the above mentioned web link.

EGEC will be running a public workshop on the second NER300 call. A representative from DG CLIMA will be open for questions and the workshop will discuss:

  • What is available for Geothermal?
  • Geothermal project subcategories
  • Feedback from the first call; the experiences of an NER300 geothermal project in Hungary

To register for the EGEC workshop, send your details to com@egec.org by 06/05/2013. The number of participants is limited to 40.

A guide for developers is available in the members corner of the EGEC website. The workshop will follow a policy meeting, also only available for EGEC members.

The draft agenda for the meeting can be found by clicking here (pdf).

In the first call of the NER300 program, a Hungarian EGS project near Ferencszállás received EUR40 million ($52 million).
