The Mineral Research and Exploration agency of Türkiye has published a book on the classification of geothermal systems as part of its Education series.

The book titled “Classification of Türkiye’s Geothermal Systems” written by Musa Burçak, one of the experienced names in the field of geothermal energy , was published as the 64th publication of the General Directorate of Mineral Research and Exploration (MTA) Training Series. The publication (in Turkish) can be purchased via this link.

Musa Burçak, who retired from MTA and continues his work at Burçak Geothermal Engineering Consultancy, made the following statement in a post on his social media account after the book was published:

“Our book, “Classification of Türkiye’s Geothermal Systems,” has been published in the MTA General Directorate Education Series. We hope it will be beneficial to the geothermal community and all readers.”

The 133-page book classifies geothermal systems in Türkiye based on their geological, geochemical, and hydrothermal basis. Bringing together the MTA’s extensive research data, the book proposes a scientific typology for Türkiye’s geothermal structure. Burçak’s study aims to fill an important gap in the literature regarding field classification, resource type distinctions and systematic description in the field of geothermal energy in Türkiye.

It is anticipated that this publication will be a fundamental reference source for both academia and industry professionals in the evaluation of geothermal potential.
