The drilling of the geothermal exploration and appraisal well GT-1 has started in the city of Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki in the Masovian Voivodeship, Poland. The well will be drilled vertically to a depth of about 2070 meters to evaluate whether the thermal waters underneath the city can be used for heating, recreational activities, or balneotherapy. Drilling works are being done at the Zak?ad Energetyki Cieplnej (Heating Plant) at Przemyslowa Street.
The contract for the drilling of the geothermal well was awarded to UOS Drilling in 2025. Multiconsult Polska Sp. z o.o. serves as the Contract Engineer, responsible for investor supervision, geological supervision, and coordination of works in accordance with the design documentation, formal and legal requirements.
Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki is one of the territories in Poland that was announced as eligible for funding back in 2023 under the “Providing access to thermal waters in Poland” program of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOSiGW). The estimated total cost of the drilling project is about PLN 12.9 million, all of which can be covered by the grant.
