Auction re-opened for 110 MW geothermal working area at Lake Ranau, Indonesia

The Indonesian government has re-opened the tender for a 110 MW geothermal working area at Danau Ranau, South Sumatra, Lampung in Indonesia.
In news yesterday from Indonesia, it is reported that the auction has been reopened for work areas or blocks of the Lake Ranau geothermal working area with an expected 110 MW potential on the border of South Sumatra and Lampung.
The Geothermal Director of the Directorate General of Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Saifulhak Yunus said that the auction of the Lake Ranau block has been opened at the end of November. “The auction will be open to companies that can now register if interested,” he said in Jakarta, yesterday.
The geothermal working area of Lake Ranau is an area of 8,561 hectares with an estimated reservoir temperature of 200 degrees Celsius. The area has an estimated resource of up to 210 MW, but it is expected that the development would be for 55 MW. For the concession offered now, there is a benchmark price of US $ 14.6 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh). The project is targeted to come online in 2022.
Companies that are interested can pick up registration forms from 30 November 2015 to January 11, 2016. Subsequently, the stage of registration of the application form includes income, income documents administrative requirements, deposit guarantees and the auction stage of the tender document retrieval unity held from December 8, 2015 until January 12 2016.
The geothermal block of Lake Ranau had actually been auctioned in July-August this year. However, when the auction closed registration, only one company participated PT Sari Prima Energy. So it is necessary to re-auction for this block.
