Bloomberg reports a total investment volume into geothermal for 2013 of $3.2 billion, an increase of 2 percent over 2012, but 2014 could prove a huge leap in investment.

In reporting on investment into renewable energy and cleantech, Bloomberg New Energy Finance reports an investment of $3.2 billion that went into geothermal development.

While this represents, so Bloomberg, an increase of 2 percent over last year, it is far from the investment needed to bring substantial geothermal power online.

But looking at this year’s investment already announced, among others the Sarulla project with an investment volume of $1.17 billion alone, 2014 could bring the main shift for the industry.

So lets hope for the best that this means a turn-around and a final kick off of substantial geothermal investment and development in 2014.
