The Province of British Columbia announces a Crown Geothermal Resources Notice of Public Tender for three geothermal permits in the Upper Lillooet River area Northwest of Pemberton in the West of BC with an interest by the Lil'Wat First Nation on July 26, 2011.

The Province of British Columbia just announced last week a Crown Geothermal Resources Notice of Public Tender for three geothermal permits in the province.

The Notice of the Public Tender is for a “Competition for the Right to Explore and Develop Crown Geothermal Resources” to be held July 26, 2011.

The permit areas are in the region of Squamish-Lilloet with First Nations interest by the Lil’Wat First Nation.

Pursuant to Section 5 of the Geothermal Resources Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, Chapter 171 (the “Act”) sealed bids addressed to the Minister of Energy and Mines and mailed or delivered to the office of the Executive Director, Titles Branch, Titles and Corporate Relations Division, 6th floor, 1810 Blanshard Street, PO Box 9326 Stn Prov Govt, Victoria BC V8W 9N3, must be received before 12:00 noon Pacific Daylight Time, Tuesday, July 26, 2011, for the privilege of obtaining geothermal rights, as detailed below and depicted on the attached map.  Accepted bids will be determined, based on the highest acceptable cash bonus and will be announced on Wednesday, July 27, 2011.

Bidding procedures and conditions are defined in Information Letter TITLES-10-01 available from the Titles and Corporate Relations Division, 6th floor, 1810 Blanshard Street, Victoria, BC V8W 9N3, telephone (250) 952-0333.

Bids that do not meet the requirements specified in Information Letter TITLES-10-01 will not be accepted.

The terms included in this Notice of Public Tender are a condensed version of referral comments received from provincial resource management agencies, regional districts, municipalities and First Nations.  Some parcels may be located in areas with active guide outfitter territories, traplines, grizzly bear wildlife habitat areas, ungulate winter range and wolverine habitat.  Surface restrictions may apply.  Tenure holders should seek direction/guidance from the Ministry of Energy and Mines when planning exploration activities.  Interested bidders are encouraged to review the Sea to Sky Land and Resource Management Plan, Ungulate Winter Range and Wildlife Habitat Areas found in the geothermal resource area.
