Poland has issued a call for proposals to co-finance deep geothermal or low-temperature geothermal spa projects as part of the Polska Geotermia Plus program.

The National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management of Poland has announced a call for proposals for co-financing of Deep Geothermal or Low-Temperature Geothermal projects. The details for the proposed projects can be viewed at the official Call for Proposals documents:

Both proposals are part of the “Polska Geotermia Plus” priority program.

Projects under “Part 1 – Deep Geothermal” are aimed at increasing the use of geothermal resources in Poland. Potential projects include the construction of new geothermal heating or power plants, modernization of an existing plant to use a geothermal source, modernization of existing geothermal boreholes, or technical treatments in existing geothermal production or injection wells.

There are also opportunities for investment into district heating systems including the discovery of new heat sources, drilling for exploratory wells, or modernization of existing heating networks.

Applications for Part 1 should be submitted from 30 November 2022 to 30 June 2023 or until all the allocated funds have been exhausted.

The “Part 2” call for proposals is for a specific pilot project in Krynica-Zdrój and Rabka-Zdrój communes. We have reported on this project in great detail previously. Co-financing opportunities are related to exploration work to evaluate the heat source for the spa communes and the execution of demonstration projects for ground source heat pumps to provide heat for the facilities.

Applications for Part 2 should be submitted from 29 September 2022 to 20 September 2023 or until all the allocated funds have been exhausted.
