Caribbean island state of Grenada eyeing geothermal

Caribbean island state of Grenada is looking at renewable energy development to decrease energy costs for its citizen and particularly mentions geothermal as an option.
Following suit with other Caribbean nations, the island state of Grenada is also looking at renewable energy development and in particular in geothermal.
This is in line with investment targets of the island as Grenada signed an expression of interest with Sir Richard Branson’s Carbon War Room.
“Under the arrangements”, so the Caribbean Journal “, the Carbon War Room would help Grenada in courting investors and other organizations to finalize a roadmap for “action and investment in renewable energy and energy efficiency,” according to a government statement.
Grenada is “seeking solutions to the high electricity prices faced by Grenadians which was due, in part, to the high cost of imported diesel fuel.”
“The roadmap would propose solutions for improving the country’s regulatory environment, energy efficiency in government buildings and infrastructure, affordable green energy services for major users in the private sector and investment in geothermal energy, among others.”
