The China Overseas Investment Union is interested in investing in a geothermal power project in BC, Canada according to Craig Dunn from Borealis.

Canada has been trying for very long to develop their geothermal potential and it now seems that it is attracting the interest of Chinese investors.

Local news sources talked to Craig Dunn on the matter, chief geologist and spokesperson for Borealis Geopower since his company has been “approached by a Canadian branch of the China Overseas Investment Union (COIU) that is interested in investing in a geothermal power project in BC.”

Regarding the specific power project, “Canoe Reach is the portfolio project they would probably begin investigating,” says Dunn, alongside with another one in Terrace.

This is obviously great news and Borealis is trying to find alternative ways to attract investment  in the Robson Valley project.

“We are just really excited about more and more people that are looking at geothermal as a viable option,” said the chief geologist.
