China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) sign cooperation agreement with China Petroleum Corporation to jointly undertake a geothermal resources utilization project in Kenya, Africa.

In a release before the weekend, China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) announced having signed a cooperation agreement with China Petroleum Corporation in Beijing on May 30.

Both parties agreed to jointly undertake a geothermal resources utilization project. The project is expected to help guarantee an electric power supply for local areas and contribute to local economic growth in Kenya.

According to the agreement, geothermal power stations will be built near geothermal fields discovered in the Great Rift Valley.

The project is a key China-Africa capacity cooperation project designed by the National Development and Reform Commission.

Note: No further details are available what new projects they are pursuing, or if they are going to support current development ongoing.
