The city of Belgrade is seeking bids on the evaluation of its potential of utilising geothermal energy for district heating.

Beogradske Elektrane, the public utility of the city of Belgrade, the capital of the Republic of Serbia, has published an invitation for bids on the creation of a study of its potential to utilise geothermal resources for its heating plants in the city. The tender was published on the Serbian Public Procurement Portal.

In line with EU targets to decarbonise district heating, the Belgrade utility targets an overhaul of its major heating plants introducing renewables to the heat supply of the city.

The goal with the study is to evaluate about 18 potential locations, and identify locations that would be suitable for pilot projects, based on technical and economic feasibility for each location.
