PT Geo Dipa Energi recently held workshops for a total of five full days for the local population and government near its geothermal power plants and expansion projects at Dieng and Patuha in a goal for better engagement on development and the local impact of these projects.

As part of its greater role to provide national energy security through geothermal energy, Indonesian PT Geo Dipa Energi (Persero) involves the community around the Geothermal Working Area (WKP) of the Patuha Area, West Java and the Dieng Plateau, Central Java. 

As part of a a Socialization of Environmentally Friendly Energy campaign, PT Geo Dipa Energi recently held a 5 full-day event in conjunction with its geothermal projects at Dieng Project Unit 2 and Patuha Unit 2 . The Socialization workshop at WKP Dieng Plateau, Central Java was held 11-13 September 2019 which included six villages and the local government. While the Patuha Area was held on 16-17 September 2019 for three villages and local government.

General Manager of Dieng Unit 2 Project and Patuha Unit 2 of PT Geo Dipa Energi (Persero), Supriadinata Marza said, through this project, Geo Dipa Energi will increase its contribution in maintaining national energy security through geothermal energy which is known to be clean and environmentally friendly. These are good news, he said, as was conveyed to the people who would later become beneficiaries of this geothermal exploitation activity. In addition, it involves the community to play a role in protecting, protecting, and maintaining the preservation of geothermal business activities.

“In addition, the aim of this socialization is regarding the rights of the community and stakeholders to obtain information relating to geothermal exploitation. Such socialization will be conducted regularly,” Supriadinata said in a press release.

Through information disclosure like this, he continued, Geo Dipa Energi can provide the right information so that it can increase the knowledge and sense of involvement of the community and stakeholders in this project.

“This kind of socialization has actually been done by Geo Dipa since 2002 until now and will continue to be improved to encourage the development of geothermal energy throughout Indonesia,” he said.

At present, Geo Dipa Energi contributes through taxes, non-tax state revenues, community development programs and absorption of non-local local workforce which always shows a positive increase.

“For the start of empowering the surrounding community, Geo Dipa always involves MSMEs from Bandung, Banjarnegara, and Wonosobo under the guidance of Geo Dipa,” he added.

To note, PT Geo Dipa Energi (Persero) is targeting to have a total installed capacity of 270 MW in the next five years. The Dieng Unit 2 and Patuha Unit 2 projects will increase contributions in various aspects, both economic, social and environmental.

This additional capacity means it will boost regional revenues through geothermal production bonuses and the contribution of corporate social responsibility programs compared to previous years.

“The achievement of the Geo Dipa business development target continues to be in line with developing the potential for community empowerment in the surrounding environment through small and medium business partner programs,”

PT Geo Dipa Energi (Persero) itself is one of the special mission vehicles under the Ministry of Finance to support the government’s program in providing electricity of 35,000 MW.

PT Geo Dipa Energi (Persero) focuses on providing safe and environmentally friendly geothermal electricity as well as providing economic benefits to the surrounding community.
