The construction of a small 3 MW geothermal power plant is planned to start this month in Paisley, Nevada, as reported by local news.

The project was bid out and won by contractor Colorado TVC from Nevada out of three companies that handed in bids.

With an overall investment cost of around $20 million it has been in development of around four years and is expected to come online in the spring of 2014.

The project, estimated by Culp in overall value at $20 million, dates back about four years in development.  The target date for coming online is spring of 2014, he said.

There is a negotiated but not signed power purchase agreement with Pacific Power, with the long term goal to offset costs to the customers of this California based power cooperative.

The equipment for the plant is to arrive later this monght, with foundation for the plant already been poured and the foundation for the cooling tower to be finished soon.

As part of the lease agreement, there is an option by the city of Paisley for future geothermal heating usage. The city hopes that the project could provide other business opportunities in the future as well.
