The Croatian Hydrocarbon Agency has announced a public tender for four geothermal licenses in Slatina, Croatia.

As reported locally, the Croatian Hydrocarbon Agency (AZU) has announced a tender for bids on four licenes for geothermal energy exploration in the area of the city of Slatina, and other municipalities in the Viroviticko-Podravska county. The deadline for the bids is 20 September 2018. The blocks offered are Slatina 1 to 4, entailing a drilling license for a maximum of five years with possibility for renewal.

Local news reported earlier that if successful, geothermal resources in the area could be used for electricity generation but also for direct use, e.g. for greenhouse operations and tourism development.

The Croatian Hydrocarbon Agency is monitoring investors in terms of fulfillment of their contractual obligations in compliance with with the highest technological and environmental standards as well as conducting strict control over exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons in the Republic of Croatia.

There currently is a geothermal power plant under development at Velika Ciglena by a Croatian-Turkish group, which we have reported before and plans by European investors.

Details about the licenses can be found on the website of AZU here. The tender documentation can be found here (pdf)
