AAT Geothermae was awarded the winning bid for a 10-MW geothermal power project in Croatia as part of a renewables auction.

In a document published by Croatia’s Energy Market Operator HROTE, the winning companies in the first utility-scale renewables auction held in the country were identified. As we reported recently, one company made a bid for a geothermal project. This company is AAT Geothermae based in Draškovi?eva in Zagreb.

The winning bid was for the Napredna geothermal power plant with an installed capacity of 18.6 MW and connected power capacity of 10 MW. Interestingly, the project was considered under the 10-MW quota for innovative power plants and not the 10-MW quota for geothermal plants.

A total of 19 offers were received during the bidding period, but only 16 were accepted. The accepted bids correspond to 107.5 MW of renewable power capacity. The breakdown of the accepted bids are as follows:

  • 4 bids for solar power plants with a total capacity of 8 MW
  • 2 bids for wind farm projects with a total capacity of 78 MW
  • 1 bid for geothermal power plants with a total capacity of 10 MW
  • 7 bids for biogas plants with awarded capacity of 8.7 MW
  • 2 bids for small hydropower plants with 2.75 MW total capacity
