Flow testing of the second production well has commenced for the geothermal power project in the village of Laudat in Roseau Valley, Dominica.

The Government Information Service of Dominica, through a Facebook post, has shared a video of the ongoing flow testing of the second production well in the geothermal project in Roseau Valley, Dominica. The Government office stated that flow testing started on 6 April 2023.

Details on the flow testing were provided by Dr. Vince Henderson, Parliament Representative for the Grand Bay constituency. According to Henderson, the production well was drilled in late 2022 and that flow testing will take about a month. He also said that the first production well had already been tested previously. Through this flow test, the project team can determine how much power can be generated from the production well.

Also present during the start of the flow testing were representatives from the Dominica Geothermal Development Company and the Iceland Drilling Company. In 2022, the Government of Dominica signed a contract with the Iceland Drilling Company for the drilling of two new geothermal wells.

A recent update indicated that drilling of the first reinjection well for the Dominica geothermal project has started. The reinjection well is planned to be drilled to a depth of 1500 meters.
