With additional funding secured, the geothermal heating project in Kolo, Poland signed a contract for the construction.

In late June 2022, the Mayor of the City of Kolo Krzysztof Witkowski participated in the signing by the President of MZEC Sp. z o. o. in Ko?o Przemyslaw Stasiak with the president of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, Przemyslaw Ligenza – two contracts related to the construction of the Kola geothermal energy: the first to increase the non-returnable subsidy in the amount of over PLN 13 million 300 thousand (EUR 2.8m), and the second to increase a low-interest loan by over 18 million zloty (EUR 3.8m).

The signing of the agreement was also attended by: Leszek Galemba, Member of the Sejm, and Artur Michalski, vice-president of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.

“Construction of geothermal energy means stabilization and reduction of heat prices and new opportunities in the field of recreation and tourism. This is the future and development of the city.” – said the city’s steward.

Work on the construction of the Kolska geothermal plant is progressing slowly but steadily. The Contract for the last task preceding the launch of the installation was now signed on July 29, 2022. The contract value is PLN 55,407,810.00 gross.

After the second borehole is drilled on the square owned by the MZEC company, the final stage of work related to the commissioning of Kolska Geotermia is the construction of a pipeline, a heating plant, a filter station, a discharge basin and a water treatment station with a vacuum degasser.

After many weeks of negotiations conducted by the mayor and the president, the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management increased the funding in the form of a non-returnable subsidy. In total, MZEC received PLN 28,409,462.50 of a non-returnable subsidy for the construction of a geothermal heating plant in Kolo. The loan amount was also increased by over PLN 18 million. This means that our priority investment is supported by a non-returnable subsidy and a low-interest loan from the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in the total amount of over PLN 62 million net.

At the company’s headquarters, in the presence of the Mayor Krzysztof Witkowski, President of MZEC Przemyslaw Stasiak signed with a consortium of Inzynieria Rzeszów SA and Energy Solutions Sp. z o. o., represented by the members of the management board: Arkadiusz Rudy and Marcin Sternik – Contract for the construction of a geothermal heating plant in Kielce with a pipeline connecting two wells. The contract value is PLN 55,407,810 gross. The task will be completed in autumn 2023.

The construction of a geothermal heating plant is a task that we dreamed about since the mid-90s of the last century. It is happening now. Kolska geothermal energy, in the current crisis on the fuel market, is the only alternative to stabilize and reduce the price of heat and to develop recreation, said the mayor of the Circle.
