With industry and national lab participants, the Geothermal GeoPhone Prize will hold a 2-in-1 workshop and teaming informing about the prize and help potential applicants get started.

The Clean Energy Business Network serves as a Power Connector to provide support on the Department of Energy’s Geothermal Geophone Prize.

This funding opportunity aims to advance current seismic monitoring technology for high-temperature geothermal use. There are multiple industries with technologies that may be applicable to solving this challenge, including high-temperature electronics, oil and gas, and micro-seismic monitoring. If you feel you may have a piece of the puzzle, you may be eligible to compete to win $850,000 in cash prizes and vouchers.

Event Details:  This 2-in-1 workshop and teaming event will inform you about the prize and help potential applicants get started. What is the Geophone Prize? A new American-Made Challenge, in Phase I the Geophone Prize will award up to 8 teams $150,000 each to prototype, test, and create high-temperature seismic monitoring technology for geothermal systems. Part of the prize will be vouchers to work directly with National Labs or other laboratories, to develop your technology.

What is “teaming”? Teaming means applying for the prize with another organization, individual, or university. Teams may be stronger applicants for this specific prize, which seeks to advance current available seismic monitoring technology and may involve applications of technologies from other industries and improvements to existing technologies. Teaming will be facilitated at the event with a virtual networking platform.
