This year's IGC Invest Geothermal Finance & Investment Forum - 26 March 2020 in Frankfurt will feature geothermal market opportunities and approaches to risk mitigation in Europe.
The third IGC Invest geothermal investment forum will be held in Frankfurt/ Main in Germany on 26 March 2020.
The event will be focusing on important elements of investing in geothermal energy development, such as risk mitigation, early stage financing, market overviews, due diligence and financing tools.
IGC Invest provides a platform for geothermal industry leaders and international investors, including private equity, infrastructure, debt, institutional investors and public equity funds, as well as public funding partners such as development banks, funds and institutions. It further is set up to help increase awareness among investors and the geothermal energy industry to educate about opportunities and challenges of investments in energy infrastructure development globally.
Program Structure
Welcome Session – with keynote on the opportunities presented by the new European Green Deal
Risk Mitigation Session:
The early stage of geothermal project development is the most critical phase, with high risks and high investment. In this session experts from different segments of the sector will talk about the different approaches to mitigating geothermal resource and exploration risk, incl. insurance, fonds, oil & gas sector, and venture capital.
- 9:00 – 10:30 Risk Mitigation I: Risks and potential Solutions
- 11:00 – 12:30 Risk Mitigation II: Investor‘s Perspective
Investment Perspectives in Middle Europe
Over the past years, geothermal development has seen increased interest. While seemingly still a strong focus on the power generation sector, the uptick of interest in geothermal in the context on cleaning up the heating sector has seen remarkable interest and investment.
This session provides an overview on the different markets and opportunities presented. Country overviews will provide details on geothermal areas, installed capacity, legal framework, funding schemes, risk mitigation, recent market development. The overviews are then followed by concrete project introductions or pitches.
- 14:00 – 16:00 Investment Perspectives in Middle Europe (Germany, Netherlands, France, Switzerland)
- 16:30 – 18:00 Investment Perspectives in Europe (Croatia, Turkey, Belgium)
