Heating is still dominated by fossil fuel burning. What about geothermal?

Earlier news state that renewables are advancing at good pace worldwide yet there are some areas that green power is still lagging behind.

According to the Jakarta Post, “In heating and cooling of buildings and industry, which accounts for about half of global energy consumption, there was little change from the year before, with renewables representing about 8 percent, mostly biomass.” This is a quite troublesome statistic, specially considering the potential for both residential and industrial heating that geothermal energy has.

Beyond heating, ORC binary turbines are also being used in industrial applications to generate power from residual or parasitic heat sources. More efforts should be done in this area.
