ThinkGeoEnergy’s Annual Geothermal Event Survey 2014 aims to establish what have been popular and successful events in 2013 and why. At the same time we want to determine what are key elements that have made events successful and popular for the sector.

The year of 2013 has seen a large number of geothermal events, actually a lot more than the previous year. ThinkGeoEnergy has attended many of the events and has spoken to many organizers and attendees of events around the world.

There are signs of a completely changing market for events and an increasingly more difficult choice for companies and their representatives to choose events.

For companies it is the question to where to put marketing money to present themselves and showcase their products and services, e.g. as part of a trade show element. For others the focus might lie in actual technical presentations to learn more about developments etc.

With increasingly more smaller events, and often many similar events in the same markets, it is hard to evaluate where and when to go.

This also has an impact on the large events organized by the industry associations, such as the largest event the GRC Annual Meeting and the GEA Geothermal Energy Expo. The great work by these two organizations to put up the event does not hide the fact that it becomes increasingly difficult to attract companies to exhibit and people to attend.

So help us and the industry to establish what have been popular and successful events in 2013 and why. At the same time we want to determine what are key elements that have made events successful and popular for the sector.

In our Annual Reader Survey for 2013 we presented the changed landscape with regards to the timing of events over the year. See image below. We are now trying to determine what are the key events for your companies in 2014 and if you don´t know how to figure out which ones to choose.
