Icelandic ISOR chosen for borehole logging in the Netherlands

ÍSOR has signed a contract for borehole logging with German drilling company Daldrup & Söhne AG for a project in Heemsmkerk in the Netherlands.
Already in late April, Icelandic exploration form Iceland GeoSurvey (ÍSOR) announced it signed “a contract with the German drilling company Daldrup & Söhne AG to carry out logging in two boreholes that the company is drilling into a low temperature geothermal area at Heemsmkerk in the Netherlands. The drilling will extend to more than 3,000 m depth to obtain heat for greenhouses.
ÍSOR has sent equipment, one of its logging trucks to carry out this task. The first logging is expected to take place just before the end of April, and then two of ÍSOR‘s experts will go to the Netherlands to oversee the logging which involves cement-bond logging, caliper logging and possibly gamma/gamma logging.
This is the first time that ÍSOR has sent a logging truck to Europe, but a little over a year ago a specially equipped logging truck and a transportable laboratory were transported to Dominica in the Caribbean Sea for various tasks. The logging truck that has been sent to Europe is specially equipped for logging down to 5 km depth. Hörður Halldórsson department manager at ÍSOR is optimistic that more types of logging may follow, because if this project is a success Daldrup & Söhne AG are likely to drill more boreholes in the Netherlands.”
