Icelandic Landsvirkjun pushing forward with plans on 9 geothermal projects

Icelandic Landsvirkjun is pushing forward with plans for up to 9 geothermal projects in Iceland with up to 625 MW in capacity. It continues development at the Bjarnarflag and Theistareykir projects in the Northeast with drilling tender held this June.
The National Power Company of Iceland (Landsvirkjun) is evaluating 20 potential power generation project sites in Iceland.
Of those 20, the company looks at potential 9 geothermal projects with a combined power generation capacity of 625 MW.
The company pushes ahead with its geothermal development plans at Bjarnarflag and Theistareykir in the Northeast of Iceland. For the past years, Landsvirkjun has been preparing plans for three to four power plants in these locations.
Tenders have been held for drilling up to three high-temperatures geothermal wells in Bjarnaflag this June and the project is well underway.
