The 2020 non-tax state revenues from geothermal operations in Indonesia have exceeded the target by more than $500 million.

The government of Indonesia reported in January that the non-tax state Revenue (PNBP) from the geothermal sector amounted to $1.92 billion in 2020, higher than the $1.3 billion target set by the government for the year.

Director General of New and Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dadan Kusdiana explained that since the government has encouraged the use of geothermal energy, many investors have been interested in developing geothermal energy in Indonesia. Exploration is also felt so that the state revenue from this sector was quite good last year.

“We continue to monitor this so that investment in geothermal remains at maximum. From this PNBP there is also a share of the results to the regions,” said Dadan at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

This year, Dadan is optimistic that geothermal development in Indonesia will be better in line with the economic recovery both globally and domestically. For 2021, the government targets to pocket US $ 1.4 billion in PNBP.

“We hope that this year all targets can be achieved well along with the economic recovery,” said Dadan.
