The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) is holding a Regional Workshop on Geothermal Financing & Risk Mitigation in Africa in Nairobi/ Kenya - January 31 to February 2018.

The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) is holding a Regional Workshop on Geothermal Financing & Risk Mitigation in Africa in Nairobi/ Kenya – January 31 to February 2018.

The workshop will aim to identify the main barriers that African countries face for financing geothermal projects and disseminate best practices and innovative models to finance operations including geothermal risk mitigation mechanisms.

In addition, it will serve as an opportunity to familiarize the participants with the geothermal technical guidelines developed by IRENA’s Project Navigator, with a focus on project development risks. The event is expected to gather participants from governments, utilities and relevant public authorities of the African countries interested in deployment of geothermal energy. In addition, international organizations, local and regional financing institutions as well as industry representatives will be invited.
