Mitsui Fudosan plans to explore geothermal power for the company to attain zero net emissions by 2050

Mitsui Fudosan, a Japanese real estate company based in Tokyo, has disclosed that they plan to pursue the use of offshore wind and geothermal power as part of their long-term plan to attain zero emissions by 2050.

In a publicly released Group Action Plan document, Mitsui Fudosan unveiled their action plans to reduce GHG emissions. There are two steps to the strategy – achieving 40% GHG reduction by 2030, and net zero emissions by 2050. The exploration of geothermal power is part of the company’s long-term plans.

Another component of the plans for 2050 is for the company to promote open innovation and partner with other organizations for research and development. Part of this effort will be doing a joint research with the University of Tokyo, investing in venture companies, and provision of place for the conduct of demonstration experiments.
