EBN is seeking to fill a position of a geoscientists for geothermal heating projects in the Netherlands. The position is based in Utrecht and the applicant will have to have good command of Dutch and English.

EBN is looking for an experienced all-round geoscientist for geothermal heat projects in Utrecht, Netherlands.

For our Geo-energy theme, we are looking for an all-round Geoscientist for geothermal energy projects.

The function

As a Geoscientist within the theme of Geo-energy you advise management with regard to the underground part of the search for – and the development and exploitation of – geological resources. You:

  • Are involved in new and active geothermal heat projects.
  • Independently evaluate proposed or executed geothermal heat projects using seismics, well logs, in collaboration with specialists from related disciplines.
  • Identify the strengths and weaknesses of projects and clearly presents the results with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Guide innovation projects in the field of geothermal energy.
  • Represent EBN at external meetings with cooperating partners and represents EBN’s interests within existing and future EBN participations.

Your profile

You like to work in a continuously changing environment. You take things up yourself, but you also know how to estimate when you need to involve others. What else do we ask of you?

  • A completed WO Master in Earth Sciences or Applied Earth Sciences.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant work experience and a thorough substantive basis in the matters listed below.
  • You are firmly in your shoes, you see the main lines, you come up with proposals to improve projects and processes and you are able to explain complex technical matters clearly, also to non-technical colleagues.
  • You are familiar with relevant software packages such as Petrel, ArcGIS and QGIS, you have experience with seismic interpretation, making well correlations and static modeling in Petrel.
  • Experience with exploration geology: pre-drill evaluation of projects, uncertainty analysis.
  • Affinity with well drilling: operations, field development, well design, well path design, and evaluation of coring and logging programs.
  • Experience with production geology; knowledge of related disciplines such as Reservoir Engineering and Petrophysics.
  • Knowledge of the geology of the Netherlands.
  • Excellent command of the Dutch and English language, both spoken and written.
