Kalahari GeoEnergy has started its slim well drilling campaign for the Bweeengwa geothermal project in Zambia.

In an update shared with ThinkGeoEnergy, developer Kalahari GeoEnergy reports having commenced its 2020 geothermal slim well programme. The programme has the objective to explore and test the resource, establish a resource volume and test the shallow resource.

Operations started by connecting to and pulling out the liner from Well LOC-18 (which was drilled in December 2019 intersecting a hot aquafer at 200m) to enable now ongoing flow tests on the shallow aquifer. The company then plans to deepen this well with the objective of intersecting the up-flow from the deeper reservoir, which will be targeted with further slim wells.

Initial indications are that there is significant flow.
