KenGen has sought for a power generation license for the 2.44 MW Eburru Hill geothermal plant.

Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) has made an application to the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority for the electric power generation licenses for the 2.44 MW Eburru Hill Geothermal Plant.

In the Notice of the application for the license, KenGen says that the grant of the license will not have any adverse effecxt on public or local authorities, companies, persons or bodies of of persons within the area of the undertaking.

The notice was released today, January 18, 2022.

We are not certain if it is merely a restart of the existing 2.4 MW Eburru plant or an expansion as part of earlier announced expansion plans for the site, as we reported in 2016.
