Margün Enerji has acquired nine geothermal licenses in Denizli and Manisa in Türkiye, representing major investment plans in their geothermal business.

Renewable energy company Margün Energy Production Industry and Trade Inc. (Margün Enerji) has announced that it will acquire nine geothermal licenses in Denizli and Manisa, Türkiye through wholly owned subsidiary Bosphorus Renewable Energy Inc. The total installed power generation potential of the nine license areas is estimated at 505 MWe.

Margün Enerji will be carrying out the investments through a new project company called Margün Geothermal (Margün Jeotermal A.S.). Bosphorus Renewable Energy Inc. will hold 77.5% ownership of the newly established project company.

When fully developed, the geothermal power plants in these license areas can produce approximately 3,863,250,000 kWh of gross annual power. Excluding potential additional revenues, a total annual sales revenue of approximately USD 405 million and an EBITDA of approximately USD 324 million are expected from electricity generation alone.

The investment represents an important step in the growth strategy of Margün Enerji in the field of geothermal energy. Earlier this year, the company announced the acquisition of the 12-MW Seferihisar Geothermal Power Plant in Izmir.
