Mexican state power company CFE is about to launch a tender for a 50 MW extension of its power plant at its Los Azufres geothermal field in the state of Michoacán in Mexico.

The state power company in Mexico, CFE, is to launch a new tender in the coming days.

The tender will be for a 50 MW extension of the company’s Los Azufres geothermal field in te state of Michoacán. The tender, so the head of the geothermal division of CFE Raúl Maya, “will be an opportunity for companies like Mitsubishi, Toshiba, Mitsui and Alstom among others.”

In earlier news this year it was already reported that the Mexicon energy minister had presented plans of an overall increase at Los Azufres of 150 MW.

CFE has a few others projects in the pipeline with give priority geothermal projects. These are El Chichona, San Antonio El Bravo, Negritos, Lago de Cuitzeo and Tulecheck. The temperatures of those fields is expected to range from 180-220 degrees Celsius.
