Two committees of the Mexican Senate have passed secondary legislation regulating the electricity market and geothermal development by private companies in Mexico.

Reported from on our sister site, PiensaGeotermia, “two committees of the Mexican Senate have now passed secondary legislation on the electricity market and geothermal energy, and amendments to water legislation. 

Under the now changed legislation the Ministry of Energy will be responsible for the award of electricity generation contracts to companies from the private market, as well as to construction related to the development of the electricity sector.
