The government of Nevis & St. Kitts is confident that the geothermal project on Nevis will progress and reports a continued interest by Ex-Im Bank to finance parts of the development.

Local news report that the government of Caribbean island state of Nevis & St. Kitts still trusts the geothermal project on Nevis will progress.

In a New Year’s address to the citizen of the country, the Premier Joseph Parry said he is confident that the project will move forward”. He also mentioned that the U.S. Export-Import Bank has confirmed interest in the project.

The project has stalled over the past year or so and talks about a loan from Ex-Im Bank for about $60 million for the developer West Indies Power did not progress.

While initially the forerunner in the recent Caribbean geothermal development push, the country of Dominica and British territory of Montserrat are now pushing forward with their projects.
