Oregon receiving US$40 in DOE funding round

The State of Oregon has received about US$40 million in stimulus funding for geothermal projects in southern Oregon, US$ 30 million alone for the Newberry Crater in southern Oregon.

As previously announced here, the U.S. Department of Energy has issued US$338 million in funding for geothermal research projects.

As part of that, the state of Oregon has received about US$40 million in stimulus funding for geothermal projects in southern Oregon.

“Nearly $30 million will go toward work near Newberry Crater south of Bend: $25 million on power-producing technology involving water injected into the earth (AltaRock Energy) and about $4.5 million on technology to locate geothermal reservoirs.

Other grants are near Glass Buttes east of Bend, $4.4 million to locate faults in geothermal reservoirs; Paisley, $2 million for power plant and aquaculture projects; Adel, $1.8 million for testing drilling techniques; and at Klamath Falls, $1 million for Oregon Institute of Technology and $800,000 for the city.”
