KenGen is seeking submissions for a prequalification of steamfield development, geothermal power generating plant and substation and transmission lines for Olkaria V geothermal power development project in Kenya.

KenGen has issued in invitation for pre-qualification of steamfield development, geothermal power generating plant and substation and transmission lines for Olkaria V geothermal power development project. The call is for the Olkaria V Geothermal Power Project in Kenya.

Description of works: Prequalification for Three Contracts as Described Below to Construct 140 MW Geothermal Power Generation Capacity Complete with Steam field. Substations and Transmission Line.

INVITATION FOR PREQUALIFICATION

The Government of Kenya / Kenya Electricity Generating Company Limited (KenGen) has applied for financing from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) toward the cost of the Olkaria V Geothermal Power Development Project It is intended that part of the proceeds of this Loan will be applied to eligible payments under the following contract Lots resulting from the bidding for which this prequalification is conducted.

Contract Lot I: Steamfield development.:

Supply and construction of the geothermal steamfield system for the Olkaria V resource area. This includes pipelines both for steam gathering, brine and condensate reinjection and steam separators.

Contract Lot II: Olkaria V Geothermal power generating plant

Engineering, procurement and construction of the Olkaria V power station, consisting of geothermal turbine/generator units to provide gross output of at least 140 MWe together with associated building and civil engineering works.

Contract Lot III: Substations and transmission lines.

Engineering, procurement and construction of the related substations and transmission lines consisting of new substation at Olkaria V and extension/modification of the existing substation at Olkaria IV, and new/extension of a.220 kv transmission lines from Olkaria V to Olkaria IV substation.

The Kenya Electricity Generation Company Ltd (KenGen) intends to prequalify contractors and/or firms for the above contracts.
