The Peppermill Casino in Reno, Nevada has gone geothermal for all its heating needs. They even could produce their own electricity as proven back in 2009 on site.

Having reported on the efforts of the Peppermill Casino in Reno, Nevada before – the casino hosted the biggest geothermal event in the U.S. for years in a row – Greentech Media now has a bit more thorough piece on the set up. Very interesting to see that a big operation like this casino can install a geothermal heating system sufficient for all needs and save about $2 million in cost per year.

In 2009, they were actually also producing electricity on site with a small geothermal power unit from Pratt & Whitney on site at the casino to showcase the technology. So they even could produce their own electricity on site. Very interesting reading.
