Tender – Geothermal exploration in Bora Pulu & Samosir, Indonesia
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of Indonesia has announced tenders for the exploration of the Bora Pulu and Samosir geothermal prospect sites.
Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR / ESDM) has announced separate tenders for the geothermal survey and exploration of two areas, namely:
- Bora Pulu in Sigi Regency and Palu City, Central Sulawesi (52 MWe potential)
- Samosir in Samosir Regency, North Sumatra (150 MWe potential)
The sites are both classified as Geothermal Preliminary Survey and Exploration Assignment Areas (WPSPE). Applications for the Bora Pulu WPSPE will be accepted until the 4th of September 2024, while the application for the Samosir WPSPE will be open until the 6th of September 2024.

The exploration and development license of the Samosir geothermal site had previously been held by KS Orka Renewables through wholly-owned subsidiary Sokoria Geothermal Singapore Pte. Ltd and PT Optima Nusantara. Bora Pulu had previously been under the list of sites to be developed by PT PLN.
