ThinkGeoEnergy wishes you happy holidays and a prosperous New Year. Taking a break, the news will be back in the first week of January, while our newsletter will still go out next week.

Another year has passed and again it is the time of the year to reflect on the past year and enjoy some time off with family.

We wish you and your families happy holidays and a prosperous New Year. We will take a break until the new year and return in January bringing you news as they happen.

We have been able to strengthen our position as the predominant geothermal news website, with a large increase in readers and pageviews.

Here a few key year-over-year statistics comparing the year 2016 to 2017:

  • Visitor growth: 50% to 445,500
  • Page views: 10% to now 340,000

We have had visitors from 226 countries and territories in 2017.

This year was the first in many where we have not had to deal with technical development, while certainly we had to fine tune certain aspects here and there. We have though launched our new Turkish news service at JeotermalHaberler.com which we operate in cooperation with Enerchange in Germany.

But there have been tons of other things going on this year.

We have strengthened our partnership with Germany-based Enerchange, an information, consultancy and event agency focused on renewable energy, and continue our cooperation in the new year.

In 2016, we launched our first IGC Turkey event, and have since successfully held the second event in 2017. IGC Turkey has established itself as the key geothermal event for the Turkish geothermal energy market, which has shown an incredible growth over the past 10 years. Turkey is now officially part of the 1 GW Geothermal Country Club, with an installed geothermal power generation capacity of 1,053 MW (1,083 MW expected at the end of 2017). IGC Turkey 2018 will take place March 14-15, 2018 in Ankara/ Turkey. Details available here: www.igc-turkey.com

In November 2017, we held the first geothermal investment forum, IGC Invest Geothermal in Frankfurt/ Germany. The event brought together a diverse group of investors, bankers, developers and suppliers to the global geothermal sector. We will held the event again in 2018, likely in September. Details to follow.

We will continue tweaking our business model to reflect a changed market environment, much about I have written about in an article on LinkedIn now a few years ago, “Surviving running a business in a (micro) niche market“. So you will see some changes.

So we will not slow down in 2018 and a lot of things are being worked on that should make this an exciting new year.

We thank our partners for their support this year, among them: Ormat Technologies, EXERGY, Turboden, Mannvit, Iceland GeoSurvey (ISOR), GeothermEx, Seequent/ AranzGeo, KS Orka, Power Engineers, Erdwerk and so many more who have contributed in one way or another to our activities this year.

All the best to you, your families and success to your activities.
