A delegation of partners from Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, and Norway visited Iceland as part of the User4GeoEnergy project.

From April 26 to 28, 2022, a delegation of partners from Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, and Norway visited Iceland with the objective of introducing the activities of Icelandic companies related to geothermal energy and district heating. This is part of the User4GeoEnergy project that aims to improve energy efficiency in geothermal installations through changing user characteristics.

User4GeoEnergy is co-funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway through the EEA and Norway Grants Fund for Regional Cooperation. With a total budget of EUR 1.32 million, the project started in October 2020 and is ongoing until September 2023.

Among the project partners are the National Energy Authority, Mineral and Energy Economy Research Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences (MEERI PAS), SLOVGEOTERM a.s. from Slovakia, InnoGeo Ltd. from Hungary, and NORCE Norwegian Research Center AS from Norway.

During the visit, the delegation met with companies that were developing or using geothermal energy in various product, services, and related activities. The list of companies involved in the visit include HS Orka, Geothermal Research Cluster (GEORG), Hitaveita Seltjarnarnes, ON, CarbFix, GeoSilica, and Varmaorka among others.
