The 5th International Geothermal Conference (IGC) will take place in Freiburg in the South of Germany on April 27-28, 2009.

The conference will be a two-day event, day one (April 27) will provide a short course and workshops and day two (April 28) will see the conference proceedings providing insights into international market development, with a focus on: risk management or probability of success, project financing, power plant engineering and EGS.

On April 27, the conference will provide a short course on “developing low-enthalpy geothermal projects in Germany” (program) The course will give an overview of relevant requirements and steps, which are necessary to develop geothermal projects. Experts will give lectures and inform amongst others about application procedures, geologic prelinimary investigations and financing. The short course matches perfectly with the practice related workshops in the afternoon and so is an excellent preparation for the main-Conference on April.

The same day there will be two workshops, one on “Geothermal projects worldwide – lessons learned” and another one on “Geothermal Information System”. (program)
